Environmental policy

These are the things we do to minimise our impact on the environment:
  • Use trolleys and bikes for deliveries in the CBD instead of using a van
  • All power is turned off when not in use
  • Our display fridges and coffee machines operate on timers
  • Separate and recycle our organic kitchen waste - www.organicrecyclers.com.au
  • Separate and recycle our paper and bottle waste
  • Donate all leftover food to One Umbrella - www.oneumbrella.org.au
  • Use blinds in summer to relieve pressure on air-conditioners
There are other small things:
  • Use of inventory control software to minimise waste and over-ordering.
  • Bulk purchasing to minimise packaging and freight
  • In response to customer demand all stores have 'have in' coffee cups and glasses
  • Soups available in ceramic bowls
  • We sugar and stir your coffee if it is takeaway. This saves the paper in a sugar sachet and a throw away spoon
Things for you to do to help the environment:
  • Eat vegetarian at least one day per week
  • Keep a spoon and fork in your handbag or desk drawer to eat your yoghurt, salad or soup. We give away over 10kg plastic per year in plastic utensils.
  • Use a hanky instead of a napkin
  • Say 'no' to a bag
  • Separate your own lunch waste
  • Refill your water bottle
  • Return your cardboard coffee trays to us for re-use
We are keen to hear from you regarding any suggestions you may have for us to reduce our environmental impact, bearing in mind of course that speed of service and convenience are some of the principle benefits to many of our customers.
